Season 2007

Season 2007 is here!

Training has started, all-be-it with the usual slow start but things are looking good for Vic Rugby in 2007. The new Australian Rugby Championship kicks off this year and the inclusion of a Melbourne team means theres been a bit of a shake up in the Victorian competition. Clubs have been grouped into six 'pillars' (or groups) and the top competition in Victoria will consist of one team from each pillar. PowerHouse will host one of these top teams (it will be called Westgate Power) and it will be feed from PowerHouse, Footscray, Hume City and Border Army. The other mens grades will be played as individual clubs (so we'll still have a 1st,2nd,3rd grade etc). For best explanation, refer to the clubs website.

So what does this mean for the women? Nothing structurally. The womens comp will still be ran in the same manner as before but the chances of recruiting in areas previously
'untouched', should be much improved. Regular contact with Footscray, Hume City and Border Army will hopefully encourage some women associated with those clubs to come and play.
